Snohomish County, land of Puget Sound shores, valley lowlands and forested mountains, is located in northwestern Washington. It was created by the Washington Territorial Legislature in 1861, and is named for the Snohomish Indians and the river which bears their name. Since 2000, the county's population has grown from 606,000 residents to over 713,000 (2010), making it one of the fastest growing in the state (it is now the 3rd most populous county in WA). The county seat is Everett, which is also its largest city. [www1.co.snohomish.wa.us]
